Mommy: Do you want another brother or sister?
Jeremy: How many kids do you still want in this house?

Mommy: Do you want another baby?
Alicia: No, as I am already the baby of this house.

Itay Talgam: Lead like the great conductors

I recently attended Itay's talk in Shanghai and was really an inspiring one. It gives an alternative illustration of leadership styles than can be applied in the corporate world. This for one set me thinking on how one's leadership style can actually shape the culture of the firm, which means one wrong step will probably cause millions of dollars ultimately.

Nevertheless, it was one of the best presentation I have attended at least in recent times. Once again, it was simply awesome !

Crying wolf .... too many times

I'm sure many of you are familiar with the above idiom as well as the legend behind it all but have any of you ever tried it and bore its consequences? If you have any real life experiences, squeak it out - I would love to hear about it!

Anyway, being bean counters, hubby and I played "this stupid game" ( if you could call it a game) to curb our boredom during the weekends and only at shopping centres. The game centres around a person whom we have been trying to avoid in public places for months and months! The thing is that just seeing this person makes us terribly annoyed and embarrased(for private reasons) and the thing is that this person remembers us quite well ( thanks to hubby's face being splattered across a national newspaper)! Anyway, the game is that everytime we get to a mall or something and half way through our walk around the shops or departmental store, out of the blue, we will try to startle each other by slapping each other's back and saying " dun look, that person is coming right this way" or " that person was just behind you on the escalator" or "that person is coming head on - quick turn left" and etc. The first few times, we played this stupid game, both of us were litterally jumping out of our skin and running in the opposite direction. After a awhile, hubby warned that maybe it wasn't such a good idea to cry wolf all the time - I practically dismissed his warnings and went about playing this stupid game on him. And then it happened.......
Last weekend while doing my last minute shopping and taking Jeremy on his first stroller ride without the Crib fasten to it, I saw THAT PERSON literally heading in my direction. At first I wasn't sure and hubby went like" it's that person, it's that person - let's run" First reaction was, hubby was crying wolf again... but then this time his facial expression was different - so it WAS THAT PERSON after all. Hubby caught this person staring at us and Jeremy even as that person was going up the escalators. Hubby said he "saved" me from going any further by stopping at a newstand to get The EDGE. Otherwise, we would have collided big time with THAT person. Anyway, hubby feels we should avoid shopping centres for awhile or at least avoid the popular ones where we tend to bump into a lot of ppl we know over the weekends.

I know it's dumb story to share but I just thought it would be nice to just write down my dumb experience :) You may ask are we repentant after this incident - No.... goes to show that we never learn from our experiences despite its consequences!
