We took Jeremy out last Saturday for his first ever outing ever since Daddy got well. Yeah - he hasn't been out since the day he was born cos' we were advised not to bring him out till he is at least 100 days old.
Naturally, I was a bit worried cos he has yet to pangsai for the day! I had to pack loads of diapers, baby wipes, extra pants, diaper cream, baby bottles ( just in case he got hungry), his security blanket and some hankies for him to chew on ( just to distract him from crying). It's a good thing I didn't have to lug all this along as our stroller had this huge storage basket to put the bag in.
Since it was his first outing to a shopping centre i.e The Curve, I dressed him in long sleeve garments to keep him warm and cozy. We were looking for a place to have dinner and resorted to find a place which was not crowded with people. Tough luck, being a saturday night, almost every single restaurant was packed to the brim. In the end, we decided to have our meal at Dome since it was quite empty and easy to park our humongous stroller. Jeremy was fascinated by the lights and globe on the ceiling. That kept him occupied for awhile as we quickly gobbled down our dinner. Daddy loves pushing Jeremy in his stroller around a lot. He took him to MPH while I browse the items at Anakku. After that, we decided to call it day and headed home but before that we took Jeremy for a joyride in the car for about half an hour. He promptly dozed off as soon as he got into the car. Half way through the journey, he starting fussing. We couldn't figure what was wrong with him until I smelt something not quite right - he pangsai!!. Ewwww... Luckily we have almost reached home by then. His diapers were soiled and it was kinda messy getting him cleaned up.
We took him out again on Sunday to 1 Utama. I dressed him in his Sunday best which was a Hallmark ensemble (note: Daddy got conned into buying this for him and didn't not even see the price tag until he reached the retail counter - hehehehehe!)
He was pretty tired cos it was his nap time but refused to nap in the stroller even though it looked pretty comfortable to me. He kept looking around his surroundings - I guess he was just curious about where he was. Anyway, by the time, we took him home, he got all cranky cos he was tired and sleepy. I tried to lull him to sleep in the afternooon but he refuse to nap and got even crankier by the hour - somehow I managed to get him to fall asleep by 8pm. *phew* what a weekend!

Raelynne hasnt been going out much as well and she hasnt been out at night since she was born cos not long after her full moon it was "Ghost Festival" . Only last week when the ghost month ended, we brought her out. Before this, she went out once or twice to the shopping mall but found out she didnt really like it and was cranky. Maybe noisy and too many people. Our parents always advise us not go to crowded places scared there are many germs and she is still small.
Julian: Same here - was advised not to take Jeremy out for more than 2 hours. we are slowly introducing him to the the joys of a car ride - we hope he will get used to it before the end of the year as we are preparing to take him back to Penang to meet his relatives from his dad's side.
You can take him out more often, he is a big boy - well, it is good to start introducing him to the germs of Msia, let him build up his resistence from young. My 16 mth old daughter is doing fine with the frequent outings though I cant remember which month was her first visit.
Hallmark clothes - yes, they are good stuff - simple, elegant and expensive (relatively); but daddy should have no issues affording them, BUY MORE! You have to dress the little emperor in the best clothes.
Btw, Jeremy really looks like his dad.
Oh, i never packed the baby stuffs like what you did when we brought Jo out, me very lazy lol!
Oh, Hallmark, what a elegant apparel for little one. It's cheap here during their clearance sales. Somemore, i like Oshkosh as well.
Huisia: I guess you could say I was just a teeny weeny bit paranoid about him being outdoors and in public for the first time :)
We have Hallmark and Osh Kosh sales here too. I got him some socks from Osh Kosh but he outgrew them after 1 month!
The first outing is always memorable. I remember we were such dungus, we took ages to close up the stroller at the car park because we couldn't figure out how to! Did you take lots of photos?
mumsgather: Same here - hubby couldn't figure out how to fold up the stroller :). Felt kinda stupid at curb especially when there were so many shoppers around the carpark as well.
Actually, I did hear about not bringing Rachel out that much cuz germs and all, including the 7th (ghost) month thingy at night, but hehe... I'm a stubborn girl... I like having Rachel looking around and exposing her to more socially... So she's been to many many shopping malls, and out kaikai a lot liao.... Don't worry about the packing and all, after a while, u'll get used to it... hehe... I'm like you, a little paranoid, wanting to make sure everything is ready and packed, 50% of the things i pack is not used... So what I do is, I put all the things in a bag, and not take it out, oni replenish what has been used, then everytime I go out, I just bring that bag... Makes going out much easier, cuz no need to repack mar....
Tired but unwilling to sleep because kepoh wanna see things/play, sounds exactly like Rachel.... TOUGH eh?
Seow Wen: We mommies are alike when it comes to our first born huh :). Yeah half the time we dun use the stuff we bring. I did bring a pillow and small little security blanket to cover him and make him a little cozy - but he keeps pulling his blanket to his mouth. Now - everything also want to put inside the mouth including my fingers!
