A new year and a new set of resolutions

It's back to the grind for me today after a lengthy 2 and a half week break. My mysterious disappearance from blogsphere could be attributed to the activities that I partook during the break, plain laziness as well as the unfortunate recent Taiwan earthquake which damaged the undersea cables cutting off internet connections. Ha! Ha1 I wasn't going to do a Lord Lucan, Jim Thompson or Bruno Manser act which could keep people guessing where I am for years to come.

Much of the time were spent looking after Jeremy, resting and catching up on a bit of reading, something which I have not done for a long long time.

My break started around Christmas time when the whole family decided to go back to Penang and introduce dear Jeremy to all his paternal grand uncles and aunties. Everybody were visibly enchanted by his antics and his famous toothless grin. It was about the same time that his 2 lower incissors sprouted. You can't really see the 2 teeth cos they still look like stubs. We left him with MIL in Penang while we went around town looking for authentic Penang food to placate our taste buds. We spent about 3 days in Penang before heading back to KL.

Back in KL, we hung out at home and did some window shopping. Hubby bought 2 things during this break. One was the Sony DCR-DVD905E Camcorder and the other was a gigantic home theater system which practically took up my entire living room as it consisted of 5 Mordaunt Short speakers, a Maranzt amplifier and a huge sub-woofer. To my dismay, I had to move all my decorative pieces, flowers and picture frames to make way for all these equipment.

Though I must say that the surround sound effects are amazing especially when we were watching the Star Wars trilogies over the weekends. Even Jeremy was dumbfounded. He looked puzzled and couldn't understand why there was a thundering jet sound behind him when there really wasn't anything there except for the 2 tiny speakers perched on the wall at the back. He kept looking at the back. It was quite a sight.

The camcorder was specifically bought to record all the important milestones in Jeremy's development from an infant to a toddler and to a young child. I spent a lot of time studying the functions and videoing Jeremy. It's so much easier now when all the videos are recorded directly onto the DVD. It saves the hassle of transferring it to the hard disk and then burning them on the CDs.

And of course I bought a book to read - I wouldn't call it literature though. Not something that's going to get my brain thinking or analysing! It is one of those sensational, intimate and unauthorised biographies written by Jerry Oppenheimer. A sordid potrayal of the outrageous Hilton family. I'm just reading it for fun. I'm so into it now that I have read almost half the book in 3 days *lol*.

I haven't had the time to post pictures or videos as my faulty camera is still in the workshop ( I bet they are still tinkering with it after 2 weeks) and I haven't had the chance to download the videos onto MyTube. Will strive to do so within this week.

As for resolutions, it's funny that after reading most blogs, there were hardly anything on resolutions - in a way I don't blame people for not revealing them given that 99% of the time these commitments could be difficult to achieve or maintained. It usually starts of well at the beginning of the year but loses steam as the months roll by as we lose focus on the ultimate goals. Or sometimes it could be something that is just too lofty to achieve. I usually make 5 easy resolutions every year and most of the time I'll achieve 3 or 4 of them. For 2007, my New Year's Resolutions are as follows:-

  • lose the unsightly tummy flab and excess poundage - the stubborn last 2 kgs which I put on as a result of my pregnancy last year.

  • Be focused and utilise my 8 hours at work wisely - Shall not bring work home

  • read at least 8 books this year

  • Save at least $XXXX (to shy to reveal) each month

  • Try my very best to meet my office revenue budget for 2006/2007.

The last one is always the one that gets the lowest priority *lol*.

Jeremy has been growing leaps and bounds and you could almost notice visible changes in his development over the holidays.

- He is very observant and curious of people and objects. He could stare and gaze at objects for a long time.

- He likes to grab objects nearby. He once grab a clay fridge magnet and it promptly dropped it directly on my toe and it hurt like hell. It's still blue black today.

- He has started creeping and is attemping to voluntarily crawl

- He starting to bang objects together i.e teether on his tray. That kept him occupied for a quite a while before he starts to "whine" and throw them down onto the floor.

- He can stand with support - As a result he is not very cooperative in his baby car seat.

- He babbles and vocalise long sentences which sounds really foreign

- He gets anxious sometimes when I move out of sight

- He could show number 1 with his index finger

- He loves to play " Cross Legs"

- He can also do the " Chacheekok" - opening and closing of his fist.

- Starting to get up and cry in the middle of the night now due to his swollen upper gums.
