Croc Shoes

I read the papers with grave concerns over the safety and hazards of these colourful plastic lightweight clogs which has has become a global fad for both adult and children alike. You can see kids wearing these everywhere. It was on my shopping list for the longest time that I can remember and I wanted to get them once Jeremy starts walking properly. Having read about how these shoes now pose a "toe risk" on escalators, I have firmly decided against getting a pair for him. This is especially so for young children who could never stand still even on a moving escalator. It was reported that last year a 2 year old Singaporean girl's big toe was ripped off on the escalator as a result of wearing such clogs although it is uncertain whether these were Croc shoes or its fake counterparts. The most recent case involved a 4 year old boy from Virginia whose toe was caught in an escalator while wearing Croc shoes. Fortunately for him, his mother managed to yank his toe free but his toe nail was almostly completely ripped off - causing heavy bleeding. Washington, D.C., subway officials said trapped Crocs are happening about four or five times a week, and they've had to post warnings to riders. In addition, it has been reported that Crocs shoes are linked to 40 escalator accidents in Japan last year.
It's alarming to know the rate of accidents caused by these shoes and as manufacturers of the shoes, Crocs has not stepped forward to address these concerns.
So for those of you out there who have bought these shoes for your kids, you may want to try the elevator instead!

I heard Japan banned Crocs! It's a bit disappointing as Crocs are so comfy

Milkmaid/Mommibee: Just be careful with the flip flops - perhaps as a precaution, dun let him stand on the escalator or any travelators.
Frankensteina - thanks for dropping by my blog - yeah they banned Crocs - safety is high on their list in that country.
