I know that the milk intake for each infant is unique and there is no such thing as a minimum amount that an infant should take in order to grow and develop properly. So how much does a growing infant really need ? I mean how much milk is required to produce the adequate level of calcium needed for the development of strong and healthy bones?
Jeremy's milk intake is currently as follows: 7 Oz at 8am followed by rice cereal mixed with milk (intake is still 7oz but amount mixed with milk could be a lot less) and vegies at noon. He will have another bottle at 4pm which is followed by rice cereal again mixed with milk and vegies at 7.30pm. So in a day he consumes about 28 oz (not 32 - excuse my math) of milk. Bedtime for him is between 9.30am to 10pm and he will sleep till around 7.30am or 8am (without getting up for any feeds in the middle of the night). It is getting harder to wake him up in the mornings now cos he sleeps like a log. Sometimes I would call him and tap him gently on the shoulder or back and he still would not wake up. In order to wake him, I have to carry him up and place him on my lap, which of course is not a very pleasant experience for him since I have interrupted his beauty sleep. He will complain and complain until we get to the car.
Anyway, back to the issue, so is Jeremy's milk intake sufficient for his growth or should I have let him have another bottle just slightly before bedtime?

Oh, so Jeremy's last feed is 7.30pm and he's okay to sleep 12 hours without milk? Wow. I normally give Ryan his last feed just before bed time (that's like ard 11pm). But if Jeremy is fine with it, I think shouldn't rock the routine la..Also, he's having rice cereal in between, I think that's why the current milk supply is sufficient for him..
Hi, first time here. My son will take around 35oz of milk in a day plus two times solid. He is 8 months now. For me, I will give as much as he wants. Having said that, I'm trying to stop his night feeding.
12 hours without milk! cool! but you should know yr baby best. Go with yr instinct!
i think enough lerr..my boy taking oni 5oz each time i think every 4 hourly day time, nite oni once but less than 5oz

Hey, looking at ur son's photos quite chubby wor, relak man!! ^.^
Baby-Ryanlim: Maybe you are right. Just worried he is not getting enuff getting calcium.
Blueranger: thanks for dropping by. Someone advised me that my son should be on at least 35 Oz a day (divided into 5 feeds). Dunnola, he doesn't even want his last feed at 9pm.
Sasha: Yeah - can't imagine him going without milk for 12 hours and when he wakes up, he doesn't even cry for milk!
Jazzmint: Do you think it is enough? He weighs around 9.5kg now. Not sure about his metabolic rate at that weight.
cutiemummyprincess: Thanks for dropping by and your kind advice. All I'm worried about is how much calcium is absorbed. Just want to make sure he has strong bones!
I think is enough since he takes solid too..
huisia: I hope so too....
Aiden sleeps by 830pm and goes up to 7ish most of the time without milk. He doesnt wake up in the middle of the night. I think every baby is different and the indication that baby has enuf food during the day is when he doesnt wake up crying for milk in the middle of the night....so go with your insticts..
i always wonder Sean getting enough milk..as I am bf mom. Well if he still wants milk after bf one side.. there is another side to offer.. this keeps going until he is enough.
